Function and Type of Gland Packing
Gland Packing is created as a sealing device, but because it has to drip, it is more appropriate to call it a restrictional device. Usually made with a braid or woven system with a box cross section. The constituent material can be graphite, acrilic, PTFE, asbestos etc. This tool has a function to control leakage, not to prevent all leaks.
